For fans of The Butcher, the Baker, the Cappuccino Maker at Sunset Plaza, good news: BBCM recently extended its outdoor dining area during COVID-19 so more customers can eat at this delicious restaurant!
BBCM is known as a top brunch spot in West Los Angeles. Its Sunset Plaza located opened in 2016 and has been dishing out modern California cuisine with European influences ever since.
With fresh baked goods and coffee beverages, BBCM is the place to go for breakfast and brunch. The number one recommended brunch item is the eggs benedict, especially with fried chicken. The seafood omelet is also a big hit.
But the food doesn’t stop there. BBCM also offers farm-to-table cuisine for lunch and dinner that is paired with a handcrafted cocktail and wine list. Try any of the numerous salads and sandwiches to quench your hunger.
COVID-19 and BBCM
Unfortunately, like all restaurants and businesses, BBCM took a hit during COVID-19.
“It was terrible,” said David Choi, the VP of business development for BBCM. “During COVID, we tried to stay open as best we could in order to maintain continuity and give key members their jobs so we could keep them afloat through it, but sales went down to 10%.”
The restaurant offered take-out and pickup, but for a while, they were only offering pastries and coffee to customers.
However, there was some good out of the Coronavirus pandemic: connecting with the local community.
“The one good thing about slimming down and being very localized is that we were able to really connect with our immediate surrounding community. We really started bonding with people in the area,” David said.
Outdoor Dining and Extended Area
Once restrictions started letting up a bit, BBCM opened its outdoor dining. Most Sunset Plaza visitors can recall BBCM’s colorful and comfortable patio dining, which currently sits about 30 guests.
However, The Butcher, the Baker, the Cappuccino Maker didn’t stop there.
BBCM extended its outdoor dining into the parking lot. Now another 30 guests can happily enjoy their delicious drinks and meals.
“We wanted to make it to the standards or the expectations that our guests have come to expect of our establishment, and I think we have done okay,” David said.
For the past month, BBCM has enjoyed its extended outdoor dining area. The restaurant hopes customers continue to support local businesses and stay safe.
“We have made a very safe environment and created an oasis where people can try to appreciate the small things in life while being in a very safe environment,” David said. “We take this health crisis very seriously, and we have implemented numerous steps in order to ensure that our customers, our employees, are safe.”
Along with outdoor dining, BBCM still offers pickup and delivery options. BBCM at Sunset Plaza is currently open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday to Sunday.
