Last month, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunset Plaza continued to expand and welcomed a new tenant: Entourage Barbershop. With years of experience cutting hair and working with famous barbers around the world, the owner, Spike, opened his first barbershop in the heart of West Hollywood.
Cutting Hair for Years
Spike started in the barber business when he was 13 years old. His job was sweeping floors at the barbershop when one day, a customer gave him $1.
“It was the most beautiful thing ever,” Spike said. “When I went to play with the other kids, I am the only one with $1. I loved that.”
Over the next few decades, Spike traveled the world from Dubai to France to England. He received certificates and diplomas from abroad and worked with some of the best barbers, though he doesn’t consider his learning experience to be done.
“There is always going to be someone that does something better than you,” Spike said. “You will learn it and you will perfect it so you can be on the same level with any competition.”
With ample parking in the back and two private doors that let people cut their hair in private, Entourage Barbershop is the place for men to go for any grooming needs.
Unlike other salons with female stylists that don’t understand men’s grooming, Spike has created a place where men can get their hair cut by people who know the difference between men and women’s styles.
“We are experienced in men’s grooming,” Spike said. “Men don’t have the right place to go to get pampered and taken care of as a man. That is why I take care of them. We offer the best service.”
Entourage Barbershop offers the works: haircuts, hot towel shaves, nose wax, trimmings, beard and hair lining, fades for both hair and beards and more. Spike is hoping to open a manicure and pedicure station soon.
A Unique Experience
However, unlike other barbershops, Entourage Barbershop creates a unique experience for its customers.
With 2,000 square feet, Entourage Barbershop is split into two levels: a normal barbershop downstairs and a VIP area upstairs.
No matter which you use, all customers are given soft drinks or mimosas and a comfy robe to wear before being taken to their barber station. After you meet your barber and discuss what you want done, the professional barber will begin the grooming experience.
The VIP area is perfect for groups of three men or more. The private area allows you and your entourage to have private conversations, enjoy drinks from the minibar and get pampered.
“We take care of you from A to Z,” Spike said.
This VIP experience costs $120 per haircut and comes with a hot towel shave, a nose wax, a black mask and eyebrow grooming.
Spike is following several Coronavirus protocols to keep staff and customers safe during the pandemic.
All customers have their temperatures checked. Barbers wear masks throughout the grooming and use sanitizing machines for the chairs, front desk and equipment.
Entourage Barbershop is currently open at 45% capacity, meaning they can take up to five people at a time. However, Spike is looking forward to opening at full capacity and having all 10 barber stations open.
“When there are 10 barbers, we can accommodate between 20 to 30 people at the same time,” Spike said.
